Those who have recently gotten involved in running groups and events face a special challenge: How to have an effect, not lose sight of what got you involved in the first place and have some fun because it's nearly all volunteer work.

The LLC 12 organizers asked folks relatively new to organizing (who have not gone to an LLC) what they would imagine if they went to the next LLC.

Here are some actual comments:

“Oh Shit, what am I doing here?”
“I care enough to be here, but what can I do?”
“I’ll get some skills”
“I will meet folks like me”
“It’ll be good, but not exciting (like play)”
“Not sure why I’m here – I was told to go.”

If any of that resonates with you, we want to let you know that the organizers have thought about you. A part of the design of the conference is to provide encouragement and inspiration, provide practical information on helping your local community and give you tools and paths for your future.

Importantly, know that many of the organizers of this event have walked in your shoes and know the value of learning from others successes and mistakes.

The theme for LLC 12 is “Arouse!,” and the goal is to excite existing and potential community leaders/activists and foster a greater sense of connection between and within community groups. Even though the name is "Leather" Leadership Conference, it's meant for those who identify with the terms Leather, Kink, BDSM, SM, Fetish, Poly and more.
