    1. Identify immediate requirements

      1. Meetings, newsletters, parties, etc.

      2. Policy/Action regarding current issues.

      1. Convert vision into reality.

      2. Deeds not words are what count.

      1. You can’t do it all yourself, you are negligent if you try.

      2. You must act in a manner that encourages others to work toward a common goal.

      1. Where is our group/community going?

    1. Has vision

      1. See the big picture.

      2. Understand why things are happening.

      3. Understand the role of individuals/groups/community.

    2. Provides effective direction

      1. Identify what is most important to accomplish.

      2. Make sure everyone understands the plan.

      3. Organize individuals to accomplish specific objectives.

      4. Maintain individual and group focus.

    3. Uses persuasion and authority to motivate and maintain discipline

      1. Formal versus earned authority.

      2. Cause others to see, understand and believe vision.

      3. Communicate clearly and with impact.

      4. Project self-confidence.

      5. Praise in public and punish in private.

      1. Provide necessary resources.

      1. Be honest in your handling of material, issues and in the guidance you give others.

      2. Accept responsibility for bad decisions you have made.

    4. Demeanor

      1. Maintain a friendly, approachable, positive and upbeat attitude even when you have more on your plate than you can deal with.

      2. Be very reluctant to share your stress.

    5. Sense of service

      1. Your primary purpose in doing anything should be the betterment of the group.

      2. The members of your group are your customers and the customer comes first.

    6. Willingness to compromise

      1. There is usually more than one way to solve a problem.
